[Colorful Yunnan National Mobile Media Line] Puzhehei, Yunnan: a fairy day in a village and a village head’s dream-seeking journey

Fan chengyuan

Men plow, women weave, and children enjoy their knees. The land is flat and spacious, and the houses are just like it. There are fertile fields, beautiful ponds, mulberry and bamboo. Traffic in buildings, chickens and dogs hear each other. Yellow hair droops and enjoys itself. Looking at the moon by the water, planting flowers in front of the courtyard, drinking Alone with the Moon. Many years ago, this was Fan Chengyuan’s dream of a peach blossom garden life.

Many years later, he felt that his dream had come true a little bit. In a small village called Xianren Cave in Yunnan, there was a river called Xianren River, where the villagers lived all over the world, and he and his villagers had been longing for and practicing it in the immortal days.

  have a dream

  Longing for an idyllic life

On August 23, 2016, Xianrenhe Village Group of Puzhehei Village Committee in Shuanglongying Town, Qiubei County, Yunnan Province. The sunshine in early autumn is warm and sultry. Walking into the entrance of this small village, a small shop attracted our attention. A string of ethnic minority ornaments were hung on the eaves of the door, which sold Yunnan ethnic minority goods. Just like Puzhehei scenic spot not far away, it became a place to attract tourists to stop.

Go in from the entrance of the village and walk about 500 meters, and you will see a small inn with "Za Ya" written on it. The facade is a light yellow wooden door frame, which is simple and primitive. "Za Ya" is especially enclosed in the red box, as if to remind people of it. It turns out that these three words are the language of Sani people, a branch of Yi people. The owner of the inn is Fan Chengyuan, the head of Xianrendong Village. He said that the meaning of these three words, Sani people’s words mean "good, good".

Speaking of the changes and development of Xianrendong Village in recent years, and talking about himself, he is a little sad.

In 1980, Fan Chengyuan was born in this village called Xianrendong. At that time, Xianrendong Village, Xianren River passed through the village. Not far from the lotus leaf field, the water is clear and the fish is fat. At that time, the water in Xianren River was crystal clear, and the farm work was busy and tired, so I put a mouthful of water on the river to quench my thirst. Around the village, the scenery is infinite.

However, no matter how beautiful the scenery is, it can’t resist the poor life.

Fan Chengyuan is a family of seven, with three brothers above and a little sister below. He is the fourth. His parents support their five brothers and sisters by growing corn and rice. At the age of 11, "I think there is only one breath left in life. It’s not called life. It’s very difficult!"

But this "one breath" day still has to pass. Every July and August, they go to relatives and friends’ homes to borrow food and promise to borrow corn and return rice. The meat dishes that can be tasted are the crucian carp and carp that my father hit in the Xianren River. Until the end of his boyhood, in Fan Chengyuan’s impression, he hardly wore a new dress.

In the era of material poverty, Fan Chengyuan’s family and the villagers in Xianrendong Village lived in this way.

In 1999, Fan Chengyuan graduated from junior high school, and his family could no longer afford him. His brothers had already married and he lived with his parents. He decided to go out to work. The following year, he came to a hotel in Qiubei County to work. "At that time, I thought as long as I could make money to support myself." He worked as a DJ in hotel rooms, restaurants and even in the hotel ballroom.

In 2000, when Fan Chengyuan went out, the tourism development in the village had begun to show signs. When he and the young people in the village left home to work, he knew "I will definitely come back".

No matter how poor he is, when he was young, Fan Chengyuan still had a dream that he, a Sani, could stop worrying about life and live an idyllic life like the Sani in the village. And the lack of material can’t achieve spiritual self-sufficiency. How can you realize your dreams if you can’t get enough food and clothing?

  Dream

Demolition and reconstruction of 71 households

Six years later, in 2006, Fan Chengyuan went home.

Home is still the same home, and village is still the same village. Dirty roads are muddy when it rains. The house is an adobe house. Rich families built brick houses. The whole village, after Fan Chengyuan came back, felt that the layout was chaotic, and each played gongs and drums. Moreover, he always feels that something is missing, but he doesn’t know where it is.

At that time, Puzhehei’s tourism was in full swing. No matter how much, he decided to get rich before thinking about anything else. After consulting with his parents, he began to borrow money from relatives and friends, and then from the bank. In the end, he borrowed a large sum of money of nearly 1 million to start building houses.

The three-story hotel was built soon. At that time, Puzhehei’s tourism was very popular, and Xianrendong Village was no exception. It was an era when you could make money by opening an inn. Fan Chengyuan renovated his three-story house with 1 million yuan, which is both his home and an inn. In 2007, he paid back the 1 million yuan he borrowed. From 2008 to 2010, he earned more than 2 million yuan in pure profits.

After all, after working in a hotel for six years, he learned a lot of management knowledge. While opening his own inn, he also told the villagers a lot about the experience of opening an inn. In 2010, the villagers unanimously elected Fan Chengyuan as the head of Xianrendong Village out of their trust.

Now that you are a village head, you should take up the responsibility of doing things for the villagers. Later, he knew what they lacked. "That is the culture that belongs to us Sani people. If our roots are not saved, our traditional culture will really be impossible to survive."

If a nation has no roots, it will become a rootless floating duckweed. Life is rich, and things are not scarce. What should we do next? Fan Chengyuan knows that to keep the roots, you must first keep the tradition and let the tradition continue. You can start with the reconstruction of your own home.

"We don’t need a house like a village in the city, we want our own national architecture." Wooden building, two floors, a small courtyard. This is the house where Sani people have lived since ancient times. However, the village is full of reinforced concrete, like a messy village in the city. The money spent has built a house. How easy is it to tear it down and start over?

At that time, there were 196 households with more than 980 people in Xianrendong Village. At that time, half of the people in the village had built various brick house inns, and they also received tourists from south to north. They are willing to ruin all their efforts and start over?

At that time, this was also an issue that the county government of Qiubei County was most concerned about. If there are no national things, it will inevitably lead to serious constraints on the tourism industry in Qiubei and the rural economic development in scenic spots. How to guide villagers in scenic spots to build according to local conditions and regulations, so as to realize the sustainable development of tourism and rural economy in scenic spots? This important issue is also on the agenda of Qiubei County Government.

"I think I have to try and convince the villagers that their own national things should continue." Do what you say. Fan Chengyuan began to work for the villagers from house to house. "Numerous times, I talked to them with throat lozenges and talked about tradition." He even found the style of the house where Sani ancestors lived and decided to transform it according to this.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way. With the efforts of Fan Chengyuan and the care and support of the government, the government promised to pay the design fee for each household and give 10,200 yuan of housing subsidies. The first batch of houses in Xianrendong Village, a total of 71 households, were completely demolished!

  realize one’s dream

Sani people’s small bridge and flowing water family

On March 18th, 2014, the reconstruction of the first batch of 71 households in Xianrendong Village was officially launched. Fan Chengyuan’s three-story house was the first to be razed to the ground.

One scheme per household, one design per household. The national cultural elements of Sani people can be reflected from the aspects of house modeling, layout and appearance color. A year later, a small building with ethnic characteristics sprang up in Xianrendong Village. By the construction side, after the real estate license is done, the house will be used as collateral. The villagers then turned their houses into inns and houses.

"At that time, some villagers said that your village head took us to do this. What if you can’t make money as an inn? I just have that confidence. I don’t think it’s possible not to make money. If I fail, I will resign as the village head. " Fan Chengyuan’s first half sentence came true, and he succeeded.

The villagers quickly returned to their homes through the inn business in a short time, and the house was their own, and they also made money. The villagers believed in the government and the leader.

After the completion of this project, Fan Chengyuan, according to the requirements of the government, set up a management team independently by farmers to standardize and unify the health and management of the whole project area. He also believes that in the future, domestic garbage and sewage discharge will be collected and sorted out in a unified way.

Nowadays, it is refreshing to walk into Fan Chengyuan’s "Za Ya" inn, square courtyard, small bridges and flowing water, colorful flowers and cloisters, dotted with many ethnic elements. Out of the courtyard, there is an open waterscape outside, which should be the immortal river that Fan Chengyuan said. In the distance, in the mountains of indigo naturalis and fields of lotus leaves, there are a few boats drifting in the water, and an idyllic scene comes into view.

The house is a wooden house with two floors. Standing upstairs to see the scenery, people downstairs to see the landscape in the courtyard, this is a good mountain, good water and good scenery, which is refreshing.

The underground space on the first floor has a hole in the sky. Fan Chengyuan said that at that time, the elevation of the homestead was required to be raised by two meters. He thought that if so, why not dig another space of one meter deep below to make a bar? When guests come, they can come in for tea and coffee, and they can also invite folk artists to sing their national songs in the evening. Isn’t that great?

As a result, the underground bar was built, which became a good place for tourists to relax.

And his inn is fully booked every day. "Joining online ordering such as Ctrip, I don’t worry that the room can’t be sold." And the guests from all directions pay tribute to such an environment every time it comes.

Fan Chengyuan feels that his inn is doing very well now, and the villagers are also rich under his own drive. Is this a realization of his own wish: that idyllic dream?

  Dream on

Aboriginal people join hands with foreign guests.

Nevertheless, Fan Chengyuan knows that his dream is far more than that. He will continue to dream.

"Such a beautiful scenery is most afraid of ecological destruction. I think we should do something within our power." He went to many tourist attractions in Yunnan, including the whole country. "The aborigines are very important. Without aborigines, it is a castle in the air." Only Fan Chengyuan, a junior high school student, began to study the history and culture of China and learn from some experts.

He thinks Lijiang in Dali is really a good place, but there are too many people outside, and many aborigines have moved away, and they no longer miss the place where they were born and raised. This is a kind of sadness. But the common people can’t, they must keep their roots!

Fortunately, when many villages in the whole country and even Yunnan became hollow villages, the people who went out to work in Xianrendong Village had already returned, and no young people worked outside. Everyone is guarding this land and living in peace.

"If life is good, we must make it sustainable. Making money is no longer the goal. Sustainable development is the fundamental purpose. Ha ha, this is my further goal. " Fan Chengyuan starts with his own inn. Each room is enlarged and the number of rooms is reduced, so the number of tourists can also be reduced, and the inn is also his home. Many villagers have also begun to try this.

When Puzhehei Scenic Area became more and more known, some people who specialize in tourism took a good look at this area. Fan Chengyuan decided to introduce another inn model.

About 1 km from Zaya Inn, there is an inn called Luoluo. Yifei from Beijing is currently the boss here.

Walking into the inn, a pool of clear water makes people shine. This is a pond of water made by the owner himself. Water, rocks, green, fat, red and thin flowers and plants make this small courtyard particularly surprising.

"When I visited Puzhehei, I fell in love with this place." Yifei has been traveling all over the country. She thinks the water in this place is fresh and pleasant, quiet and beautiful, which makes people linger. So I decided to stay.

In November last year, she met Fan Chengyuan, the village head, and the two sides reached a consensus to adopt the mode of farmers and outsiders, who taught the villagers advanced management methods while running the inn. She signed an agreement with a villager to pay the rent every year. In this way, both sides benefited, villagers learned advanced management mode, and renters also benefited a lot.

"I feel that I want to live here for a long time. It’s really a good place." Yifei lived here happily for a year.

This model has been popularized among the villagers in Xianrendong Village. "This way is very good. We really learned a lot of things that we didn’t know before, and they managed it, so we also had more time to do other things." Villager Xiao Ju said.

Xianrendong Village’s beneficial exploration and attempt on the renovation and construction of folk houses has promoted the tourism development of many surrounding villages. Forty-four farmers in the "Gujingyuan" area of Puzhehei Village first volunteered to organize a group to carry out residential renovation, and then farmers in the other three areas of this village also volunteered to organize a group to carry out residential renovation.

Today, the third and last batch of 74 houses in Xianrendong Village has been included in the reconstruction schedule. Now more than 50 households have signed up to rebuild their houses. In 2015, the collective income of Xianrendong Village was more than 30 million yuan, and the per capita net income was 100 times that before tourism development, reaching more than 30,000 yuan, making it a typical minority village in Yunnan to get rid of poverty and become rich through tourism development.

Fan Chengyuan, the village head, is busier now. He only gives his inn 50 points. "The hardware is ready, but the software needs to be improved. For example, the management method is ok, but the details are still lacking." He also decided to go to Taiwan Province this year to learn from other people’s advanced management experience. Next month, he and his wife will go to Kunming to learn how to make western food, so that guests who come to travel and stay can appreciate the ethnic customs when they were young, and they can also appreciate different western customs.

"As long as you dare to dream, as long as you act, your dreams will always come true." Fan Chengyuan realized that seemingly impossible dream with his actions.

Hope is attached to existence, and if the heart is there, the dream is there.
